![]() ![]() ![]() Just wondered if anyone had any ideas that I could try? I've reset the shield since but no joy, powered all my AV kit down for a while and back on, no joy. I've had a look on the web and there are stacks of people on the web having similar issues over the years. Xbox works fine in same HDMI ports on the TV and soundbar. Have tried 3 extra HDMI cables including an Xbox Series X 4k cable but to no avail. If I disable HDMI-CEC I can plug into my soundbar but that still only shows the same 720p. Shield did a system update and now it will not display anything other than 720p. Managed to get a picture in 4k, although the picture kept going blank every few seconds. Initially tried to connect shield through my (4k ready YSP2700) soundbar, no joy - shield kept skipping to an input that wasn't in use so I thought fair enough I'll plug it straight into the TV (Sony 65AG8) and lose the high res audio. Going the software / CPU route for transcoding 4K remux (typically more reliable and better quality although GPU accelerated transcoding has improved allot) is expensive as you really need to be in the 3950x camp or above (threadripper), thankfully I had mine spare after upgrading my desktop to a 5950x.īought a Shield 2015 model from Ebay which came today, had one a few years ago but sold it and then thought I'd get another! Unfortunately I'm having a bit of a problem with it. so I don’t have to run a duplicate 1080p copy for each film when serving outside my network the 3950x allows me to transcode 2-4 concurrent 4K HDR Remuxes at 1080p 10mb, which is very handy.įor anyone else: Intel CPUs with later versions of QuickSync are very good on the hardware decoding side. Like you allot of my content is 1:1 4K HDR Remux from disc and pretty much all I do is direct play to our Nvidia Shield Pros we have in our house. I also have another lower powered mini ITX box with 4x 4TB at the moment, will likely put 4x 18TB into it soon. Personally I run a TrueNAS box with a 3950x, 128Gb ECC and total of 182TB (8x 16TB Exos drives and 3x 18TB Exos Drives). ![]()
